Binaural beats, or binaural tones, are auditory processing artifacts, or apparent sounds, caused by specific physical stimuli. This effect was discovered in 1839 by Heinrich Wilhelm Dove and earned greater public awareness in the late 20th century based on claims coming from the alternative medicine community that binaural beats could help induce relaxation, meditation, creativity and other desirable mental states.

Binaural beats reportedly influence the brain in more subtle ways through the entrainment of brainwaves and provide other health benefits such as control over pain.

Binaural beats may influence functions of the brain in ways besides those related to hearing. This phenomenon is called “frequency following response”. The concept is that if one receives a stimulus with a frequency in the range of brain waves, the predominant brainwave frequency is said to be likely to move towards the frequency of the stimulus (a process called entrainment). In addition, binaural beats have been credibly documented to relate to both spatial perception and stereo auditory recognition, and, according to the frequency following response, activation of various sites in the brain.

When the perceived beat frequency corresponds to the delta, theta, alpha, beta, or gamma range of brainwave frequencies, the brainwaves entrain to or move towards the beat frequency. For example, if a 315 Hz sine wave is played into the right ear and a 325 Hz one into the left ear, the brain is entrained towards the beat frequency 10 Hz, in the alpha range. Since alpha range is associated with relaxation, this has a relaxing effect, or if in the beta range, more alertness. An experiment with binaural sound stimulation using beat frequencies in the beta range on some participants and the delta/theta range on other participants found better vigilance performance and mood in those on the awake alert state of beta-range stimulation.

Binaural beat stimulation has been used fairly extensively in attempts to induce a variety of states of consciousness, and there has been some work done in regards to the effects of these stimuli on relaxation, focus, attention, and states of consciousness. Studies have shown that with repeated training to distinguish close frequency sounds that a plastic reorganization of the brain occurs for the trained frequencies and is capable of asymmetric hemispheric balancing.

Frequency range, Name, Usually associated with:

Higher than 40 Hz, Gamma waves, Higher mental activity, including perception, problem solving, fear, and consciousness

13–39 Hz, Beta waves, Active, busy or anxious thinking and active concentration, arousal, cognition, and or paranoia

7–13 Hz, Alpha waves, Relaxation (while awake), pre-sleep and pre-wake drowsiness, REM sleep, Dreams

8–12 Hz, Mu waves Mu rhythm, Sensorimotor rhythm

4–7 Hz, Theta waves, Deep meditation/relaxation, NREM sleep

Lower than 4 Hz, Delta waves, Deep dreamless sleep, loss of body awareness

Lucid Dreaming Induction.

Features the clear dream: One enters from the usual first-person perspective and sees himself from the perspective of a third person. One is aware that one is dreaming and just one has conscious control over the dream events. Man sees himself in an exceptionally exciting and vibrant reality. It has access to the entire knowledge that you have while awake.
This is one of the most interesting areas of current dream research. A dream phenomenon in which the ego-consciousness awakens during the night dreaming (in the dream). It is therefore possible to control the nightly dreams consciously – to construct his dream story itself and to direct, rather than just passively “watching”.

They call people who have mastered this technique also uplifting dream cosmonauts or one aeronaut. Tibetan monks and Amerindian shamans cultivate this art for centuries. The western dream research and science is not concerned very long with this intriguing phenomenon and its possibilities. Lucid dreaming allows access to one’s own subconscious. Five to ten percent of the population should be able to regularly clear dreaming.
There are effective lucid dream techniques, making it possible to achieve this particular state of consciousness in the night dream through exercises.

Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Lie (or Sit Down) in a Comfortable Position.

Take a few deep breaths. With each breath, know that while you are drifting off to sleep soon and your body will be at rest, your subconscious mind is busy creating and solving problems.

Repeat the following affirmation (as easy one to memorize as you fall asleep):

My soulmate loves me completely
I now attract my soul mate
My soul mate is getting attracted to me.
I am now attracting the most loving person in my life
My soul mate and I are being drawn together.
I love being with my soul mate
My heart is open to love.
I am attracting the perfect loving partner
I have more love than I ever thought possible
I naturally attract perfect relationships into my life
I am already connected deeply to my soul mate
I am in the right place at the right time to meet my soul mateMy soulmate loves me completely
I now attract my soul mate
My soul mate is getting attracted to me.
I am now attracting the most loving person in my life

Step 2: Imagine What Life is Like, Now That You’ve Manifested Your Desires.

Continue to take a few more deep breaths.

Inhale by counting to three, and as you exhale, let any worries of your day leave your body and your mind…1, 2, 3.

Repeat this while you think about your life as if you have already manifested your desires.

Feel it.

What does your life look like now that you have manifested your desires….?

Drift to sleep with the clarity of your intention, and peace of mind that your subconscious mind is busy creating a dream life that you’ve manifested.

How to use binaural beats:
Find a comfortable place free of distractions. It’s important not to listen to binaural beats when you need to do something that requires your full attention like driving. Avoid any tasks that are mentally demanding because the meditative state is not conducive to quick, action-oriented critical thinking.

Listen to binaural beats when you want to relax, clear your mind, get your creative juices flowing, engage your intuition to help solve problems and for personal development work such as repeating affirmations and doing visualization.
Be sure to give yourself enough listening time! The brain requires about 7 minutes to entrain, or fall in sync, with the audio stimulus. Give yourself at least 15-30 minutes of listening time to experience the benefits.

You must use stereo headphones for binaural beats to work. Why? Because the ‘beats’ themselves are created in your brain The word binaural means “having or relating to two ears.” It works like this: each ear receives a slightly different frequency at the same time, and the brain perceives the tone that is the difference of the two. If 400Hz pulses into one ear and 410 into the other, the brain will process the two sounds into a 10 Hz frequency, which happens to be the same frequency produced by the brain during meditation.

All of these frequencies, and the effects they have on the brain have been studied by scientists over the past 40 years, mainly accredited to Robert Monroe of The Monroe Institute. From the extensive research done and on the strength of Monroes’ findings, he concluded that inducing brainwave frequencies through the use of binaural beats causes a wide range of effects. But Monroe is definitely not alone in his findings. There are lots of other scientists that have also noted that these lower brainwave frequencies are accompanied by deep tranquility, flashes of creative insight, euphoria, intensely focused attention, enhanced learning abilities, spiritual awareness, and so much more.

We advise you to keep a dream journal near you Keep it close by your bed at night, and write down your dream immediately after waking, or the emotions and sensations you experience right when you wake up. This will train you to remember more of your dreams, which is important for lucid dreaming.[1] Plus, there’s not much point in controlling your dreams if you forget the experience before the morning. Alternatively, keep a recording device by your bed. You might remember more of your dream if you stay still for a few minutes concentrating on the memory, before you start writing.

Repeat “I will be aware that I’m dreaming” each time you fall asleep. Each night as you fall asleep, repeat to yourself “I will know I’m dreaming” or a similar phrase until you drift out of consciousness. This technique is known as Mnemonic Induction to Lucid Dreaming, or MILD.[4] Mnemonic induction just means “using memory aids,” or in this case using a rote phrase to turn the awareness of your dreaming into an automatic habit.
Some people like to combine this step with a reality check by staring at their hands for a few minutes before they go to sleep.

If you just want to simply relax and don’t do anything but sleep, that’s fine too .
